Agriculture Export Council and the Agricultural Quarantine of Egypt took a decision that the Egyptian Citrus season 2022/2023 is allowed to start on the 1st of December, 2022, hence all Egyptian Producers and Exporters of Citrus are allowed to start shipping and exporting Egyptian Citrus from that date.

Suez Canal Authority decides on new and increased transit tolls for 2023

The Suez Canal Authority has issued today new resolutions on the canal’s transit tolls that are to be applied in 2023. Ossama Rabiee, SCA’s Chairman and Managing Director, has announced an increase in the transit tolls for all types of vessels by 15% during 2023 That increase will be at 10% for dry bulk ships and cruise ships as of the beginning of January of next year.

Rabiee has confirmed the SCA’s keenness to apply a balanced and flexible strategy on pricing and marketing that serves its own interest and that of its clients, and that takes into consideration the various changes in the global economy through clear mechanisms that include calculating a vessel’s transit tolls depending on the savings it achieves by transiting through the canal.

Egyptian agri exports to Russia increased by 27% in first half of 202

The volumes of Egyptian food industry exports sent to the Russian market recorded 50,145 tons during the six-month period ended 30 June 2022, a rise of 15.70% when compared to 43,320 tons one year ago. Food industry exports to Russia have increased by 27% in the first half (H1) of 2022 to $46 million, compared to $36 million in H1-21.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s exports of frozen strawberries to Russia totalled $17.91 million in H1-22, whilst exports of frozen vegetables reached $16.63 million. Other exported food commodities include frozen potatoes, dried fruits, white cheese, and pickled vegetables.

In 2021, food industry exports of the Arab world’s most populous nation to Russia grew by 61% to $64 million, compared with $40 million in 2020. The number of Egypt-based food companies exporting to Russia in 2021 amounted to 151 companies, including 21 firms whose exports exceed $1 million, representing 72% of the total exports.
