Egyptian Spring onions are small in size and have long, straight leaves that connect into globular, bulbous bases, Also known as scallions or green onions, spring onions are milder than onions making them ideal for eating raw, Along with onions and shallots, spring onions are a member of the allium family, The green tops of spring onions can be used like chives.
The round to oval bulbs of Egyptian Spring onions has moist, thin skin and fine root hairs, and range in color from white, almost translucent, to red depending on the variety.
The green stems of Egyptian Spring onions are hollow, long, and slender with a spicy, bitter, and more herbaceous taste than the bulbs. Spring onion bulbs are often consumed fresh and are crisp, sweet, and tender with a mild pungency.
